A brief excerpt of Jimi Hendrix’s rendition of the Star Spangled Banner (43 seconds to be precise) is something almost entirely pointless in itself, but nonetheless serves reasonably well as an interlude into the live version of “Bullet The Blue Sky”. There’s also a neat connection in that Hendrix himself was, of course, making a point about Vietnam with the performance, tying in with the condemnation of the Reagan administration’s interventions in Central America present in “Bullet The Blue Sky”.
